The term graphic art can refer to any number of artistic and professional disciplines that focus on visual communication and presentation. Numerous methods are used to create and combine symbols, imagary and/or words to create a visual representation of ideas and messages. The graphic artist may use typography, visual arts and positioning/layout techniques to produce the final result. Graphic art often refers to both the process by which the communication is created and the image or design that is generated generated.

Trompe L'Oeil is a French term literally meaning "to trick the eye". It is a style and technique of painting that focuses on extremely intricate and realistic detail as to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects appear in three-dimensions, instead of actually being a two-dimensional painting. Simply put the viewer sees and believes what is not really there.
